The Weekly Dose - Choice
"There are three constants in life... change, choice and principles." - Stephen Covey
Hello,
First up, I have a BIG ask - please can you review my book here > book . I’ve been set the task of reaching 100 reviews. Which feels like a mountain right now. A quick 30 seconds would make my day. Thank you :)
So the topic today… Choice.
Sometimes we just have too much choice, and that’s the problem! But we do, always absolutely have a choice.
Choice is seen as the ultimate luxury, but sometimes (often) the less choice the more we get to focus on the things that matter.
I have been exploring this with my coach, and with one of my 121 clients. We all get to forks in the road where we need to decide, and it’s the decision that keeps us stuck! So read this week’s blog and listen to my conversation with Stephanie Sword Williams - who uses Stick, twist, tap out in her new book, career comedown.
It’s these kind of simple, but very effect, tools we’ll be sharing and talking through on the Change Mastery course. Not a course that is just coaching for a one off change navigation, but a course that you learn about tolls that will help in every da life, as well as more strategic, longer-term thinking. If this sounds intriguing put your name on the curiosity list, more information to follow.
See how many times you could activate stick, twist or bust this weekend!
Have a great weekend.

Choice! - Sometimes it’s having too much choice that keeps us stuck. If we have so many ideas that we don’t know which one to start with, we’ll stay still. The aim is to find ways to reduce choice and make it easier to know what to do next, and create space for the things that do matter.
The artists Gilbert & George are famous for sharing their very rigid daily routine. Get up same everyday, same breakfast, same clothes, leave house same time, same route. Once at their studio they are then free from structure to create, having preserved all their energy. (Now some would say they may’ve missed inspiration opportunities along the way, but it world for them!).
So sometimes we are at the crossroads of too much choice! So what do you do?
A simple way, when in a moment of sheer overwhelm, is to explore your Stick, Twist, Bust options.
Stick - to what you are doing, but try to find an upgrade somewhere.
Twist - your expertise so you do it differently
Bust - time for something completely new
And then ask yourself:
What is your appetite for discomfort?
What do you really want right now?
What is your capability v capacity ratio?
This will help you get to place where you knwo what to do next.

“Another Door Opens is a powerful and practical guide for navigating change, not just in work, but in life. Eleanor captures the emotional truth of transformation and offers something rare in this space: a deeply human, grounded framework that meets people where they are. For those of us supporting change at scale in organisations, this book is a reminder that real progress starts with personal clarity. If you work in L&D or lead people through uncertainty, this will speak to you and give you language to help others through their own doors.”
