The Weekly Dose - Legacy
"My legacy is that I stayed on course... from the beginning to the end, because I believed in something inside of me." - Tina Turner
Hello,
I’m thinking about legacy this week. I’m wondering if it carries the same currency anymore, it feels like people arent really caring what legacy they are creating, it’s just all about the now, maybe at the cost of tomorrow.
I remember watching an interview with Tina Turner (legend!) who was talking about her legacy, the path she trailed behind her. And she talked about how proud she was that she ‘stayed on course’. Not in a hyper focus goal grabbing way, it was more about how she stayed true to herself despite everything. It got me thinking about the legacy that you have inside you right now and trail it is leaving behind.
Are you ok with the path you leave behind you?
I’m speaking with Ada Parris this week. Her book is a brilliant challenge to get us thinking about what this looks like - for the World, and ourselves.
Would love your thought on this, and if you listen to our conversation.
If you are pondering what to do next, what does that look like for you - the next cohort for the group programme exploring our Change Mastery, and how we navigate our next moves, starts end of Feb. Sign up today and we’ll jump on a free 121 call to start your thinking. More info here.
If you are feeling stuck, in the stickiness of change, feeling like there could be something better - then this is for you.
That’s all for this week.
Have a nice weekend.

It feels like there is ‘layoffs in the air’ at the moment so I thought Id share a reminder of the 5 steps to thrive after losing your job, from my first book. I’ve included a thinking framework to help to start easing out of panic and into some calm next moves.
Redundancy is one of life’s sharpest, ouchiest (real word) curveballs. Even when the rumours circulate or logic tells us “it could happen,” the moment itself still lands with weight. It interrupts our routines, our identity, our sense of stability. But while redundancy is undeniably hard, it can also become a turning point, a moment to pause, reassess and rebuild with intention. This five-step framework is designed to guide you from shock to calmness, from stuckness to forward motion, and ultimately to thriving again.

Reading
I’ve been reading Ada’s book, beautifully written and a fresh perspective to leadership - and legacy.
“An essential new vision for leaders of all stripes seeking to navigate their responsibility to the planet and their fellow global citizens.”
Adah delivers an eye-opening exploration of how digital technology interacts with our elemental connections to the world. The author discusses themes of natural connection―ether, air, fire, water, earth―and how they contribute to a “digital symbiosis” that shapes our present and our future.
Inside the book:
An introduction to “Cyborg Shamanism” a philosophy embracing the fusion of technology and nature
Insightful discussions and perspectives of the contributions being made by people bringing traditional and Indigenous perspectives to creative, technological, innovative economic and environmental conversations
An original approach to the human relationship with the planet―one that focuses on its interconnected, interdependent, and symbiotic nature
Leadership Legacy will spark a valuable new dialogue on legacy and technology’s power to uplift marginalised voices and create authentic connections.
Podcasting
Cara-Lyn and I talk about how she left her job, which on paper looked brilliant, but was just the wrong job, and then how she then had to start creating the very right job and starting her own business.
