The Weekly Dose - Rethinking problems
“Its Better to Destroy the BOX than to Think outside the BOX.” -Udayveer Singh
Hello,
I’ve had one of those weeks when you wonder how is it Thursday, how is it mid May, how am I 51? Yes big life questions rolling out all at once! I had the privilege of staying at The Belfry Hotel for a supply chain conference. I was running my Change Mastery workshops for delegates and stayed around to join in the other talks and sessions. And some great chats at the bar - which is where the best learning usually happens! The very awesome John Amaechi opened breakfast with a talk was a better kickstart than the coffee. He has a new book called It’s Not Magic - which if that small extract was anything to go by is a must read! Then the evening closed with Peter Emmett and Kevin Sinfield sharing his story of doing 78 marathons!! So the kind of event that leaves you feeling good about the World.
Now Im home again and planning for a few online workshops, which have a different pace, and I love running because I know it’s the space people need. If you want to find out more info is here. There are so many teams navigating change right now and this framework, and thinking time might be exactly what is needed > WORKSHOPS.
And of course the Change Mastery Day is coming up » join in»
Sign up here. If you are navigating change right now, take your place. See you there.
Have a great weekend.

SCAMPER: How to rethink problems. When did you last feel completely stuck? Where the thoughts go round and round, you’ve asked yourself all the obvious questions, and nothing new is coming. The problem is still sitting there. It’ stime to think differntly.
Most of us, when we hit that wall, do one of a few things. We either push harder (more research, more advice-seeking, more ‘what should I do?’) or spiral into panic or we go completely blank, maybe hoping something might come along.
Sometimes what helps is a different set of questions. Questions that unruffle your set thinking. Ones that approach the problem from an angle you haven’t tried yet.
That’s what this week’s blog post is about. I’ve been revisiting a tool I included in Another Door Opens called SCAMPER - a simple framework that gives you seven prompts for thinking differently about any problem. It’s been used by product designers, engineers, and educators, but it works just as well for the quieter, messier challenges of navigating change in real life.
The framework is below to play with -
Would love to know if you used it to unravel a fresh idea.
Listening
My final few shows on Do Radio. This week I’m talking to Neil Jordan, Positive Neil.
Neil shares "not getting what we want is often what pushes us to grow, adapt, and get to know ourselves properly."
Neil shares his ‘journey’ from addiction to self-awareness. He shares how pivotal moments, like losing a friend, pushed him to explore life’s deeper purpose and embrace positivity even in adversity. He also talks about some epic Retreat experiences!! Tune in to hear that brilliant tale!!

Watching
This is the best bit of storytelling I’ve seen in a long time. Without once telling me what the story is. I’m left to tell my own story. And feel so many emotions and reactions, again without really being told. And everyone who watches, probably, will have very different stories, emotions and reactions.
Storytelling is never just about what we are being told. Its always about what we are, personally, receiving and translating.
This is brilliant.
I posted it on LinkedIn - if you watch it and want to share your thoughts comment on the LinkedIn post.

Change Mastery Day - 28th May 26
For leaders, rethinkers, change makers - who want to do change better.
I’ve been asked if you can join if you are a coach; of course. It might stir fresh ideas, fresh models to use, new tools.
I’ve been asked if this is also for people navigating job loss; yes, it’s all change mindset. Time to think about what to do next. How to rethink work, what it looks like, how you make it work for you.
